明罚敕法，决断果敢
The Judgment
Biting Through: it succeeds. It is favorable to mete out justice.
The hexagram of Biting Through depicts forcing an obstruction apart so that things may join, and making penalties clear so that law is upheld. It brings success; it is fitting to apply just punishment and restore proper order.
雷电噬嗑。先王以明罚敕法。
颐中有物，曰噬嗑。噬嗑而亨，刚柔分，动而明，雷电合而章。柔得中而上行，虽不当位，利用狱也。
Interpretation(original text)
「噬嗑」即咬合之意。口中有物阻隔上下颚，必须咬碎方能合拢。象征障碍横亘其中，须以刑罚明法纪、果断排除。《彖传》曰「颐中有物，曰噬嗑」。朱熹谓「噬，啮也；嗑，合也。口中有物，啮而合之」。
上离为火、为明，下震为雷、为动。雷电交加，光明与威严并行，象征明察秋毫而果断执法。《象传》曰「雷电噬嗑。先王以明罚敕法」。震动而离明，行动果断且判断清明。初九与上九为两唇，六二至六五为口中之物，须咬而去之。
六五阴柔居尊位为卦主，以柔用刚、以文明断狱。九四阳居四位，为口中之梗骨、最难咬之物。初九至上九，象征从小过到大罪：初九轻罚「屦校灭趾」，上九重刑「何校灭耳」。六爻呈现从轻到重的刑罚序列。
噬嗑与贲为相综之一对。噬嗑主刑、贲主文饰，刑罚与文教相辅相成。《序卦》曰「可观而后有所合，故受之以噬嗑。嗑者，合也」。观察发现问题后须果断处理（噬嗑），处理之后须文饰修复（贲）。
The Lines
His feet are set in the stocks, so that the toes are hidden. No blame.
The feet are locked in fetters that cover the toes, a small punishment for a first offense, enough to give warning. There is no serious fault.

初九阳居阳位得正，处噬嗑之始。「屦校灭趾，无咎」言套上脚镣让脚趾隐没，使初犯者知所警惕。初九为嘴唇下端，刑罚尚轻。《象》曰「不行也」，程颐谓「施之于始，罪小而刑轻」。小惩大诫，初犯轻罚即可戒止，此为教化之始。
Biting through tender flesh so deeply that the nose is buried. No blame.
Biting into soft flesh until the nose sinks from view; one goes somewhat too far, yet no real harm comes of it.

六二阴居阴位得正又得中。「噬肤灭鼻，无咎」言咬柔软的肉（容易之事），鼻子被遮没。六二柔中，处理的案件不太棘手。《象》曰「乘刚也」，六二乘凌初九之阳。程颐言「二以柔中之才，治不甚坚梗之案」。虽用力过猛但因案情简单，终能处理妥当。
Biting on dried meat and striking something poisonous. Slight humiliation, but no blame.
Biting into cured meat and meeting a tainted morsel, an awkward moment, but in the end no fault attaches.

六三阴居阳位失正。「噬腊肉，遇毒；小吝，无咎」言咬干硬的腊肉遇到毒素。六三失正处多凶之位，处理的障碍棘手而有风险。《象》曰「位不当也」。程颐谓「三居非其位，才不足以治狱」。虽处理过程曲折困难，但只要坚持正义终能克服。
Biting through dried gristly meat and finding a metal arrow. It furthers one to be mindful of difficulty and to persevere. Good fortune.
Biting through tough, bone-laced dried meat and unexpectedly finding a golden arrow within. It is favorable to hold firm through hardship; good fortune.

九四阳居阴位失正。「噬干胏，得金矢，利艰贞，吉」言咬带骨干肉，得到铜箭头（象征刚直），利于坚守正道。九四为口中最硬之物，阳刚之障碍最难排除。《象》曰「未光也」，程颐言「四处近君之位，所治者强梗」。须以刚正之心处理棘手之案。
Biting on dried meat and obtaining gold. Persevere in awareness of danger. No blame.
Biting into dried meat and coming upon gold. Though the upright course carries some danger, in the end there is no fault.

六五阴居阳位失正但得中，为噬嗑之卦主。「噬干肉，得黄金；贞厉，无咎」言咬干肉得到黄金（中正之德），虽有危险但无咎。六五柔中居尊，以文明之德断案。《象》曰「得当也」，朱熹谓「柔顺而中，以居尊位」。用柔道持刑、以中德判案，为理想的执法者。
A cangue is borne upon the shoulders, hiding the ears. Misfortune.
The heavy wooden collar is loaded on his shoulders until it covers his ears; the gravest guilt meets the heaviest sentence. An omen of misfortune.

上九阳居阴位失正，处噬嗑之极。「何校灭耳，凶」言戴上枷锁连耳朵都被遮没，大凶。上九为嘴唇上端，刑罚已至极重。《象》曰「聪不明也」，程颐言「居噬嗑之终，受刑之极者」。积恶至深不知悔改，终受重刑。此为过错到极致的结果。

噬嗑卦象征咬合、决断。口中有物，咬而合之，寓意排除障碍、明辨是非。当前遇到阻碍或纠纷，须果断处理，明辨曲直。以刑罚明法纪，以决断去障碍，最终可获亨通。
事业中可能遇到障碍或人事纠纷，需要果断处理。宜明确规则制度，公正处理问题，不可偏私。对违规行为应严肃处理，维护团队纪律。排除障碍后，事业可顺利推进。
经营中可能遇到合同纠纷、债务问题或市场障碍。须依法依规处理，不可回避。必要时可诉诸法律手段维护自身权益。理清障碍后，商业活动方可顺畅进行。
学业上需攻克难关，不可畏难退缩。遇到不懂的知识点要刻苦钻研，逐一突破。考试中的难题要冷静分析、逐步解答。有决心和毅力，学业定能有所突破。

噬嗑卦象征口中有物必须咬碎方能合上，比喻障碍必须排除方能亨通。雷电交加，光明与威严并行，寓意执法明断。此卦利于诉讼、执法和处理纠纷。做事须果断，对待问题不可姑息迁就。刚柔相济，宽严并用，方为上策。
运势有阻碍，需果断排除障碍方可顺利。
财务上可能有纠纷，宜依法处理，不可拖延。
家宅恐有争执，宜明理公正处理家务事。
