震为雷
震动惊惧，恐致福也
The Judgment
The Arousing brings success. When the thunder comes there is terror, and then laughter and easy talk follow. Though the roar shakes a hundred miles around, he does not drop the sacrificial ladle and wine.
Thunder shakes with awesome force. Though its crash startles all within a hundred li, the composed noble one keeps his footing and never lets the sacred rites fall from his hands, and so he wins through.
洊雷，震。君子以恐惧修省。
震，亨。震来虩虩，恐致福也。笑言哑哑，后有则也。震惊百里，惊远而惧迩也。出可以守宗庙社稷，以为祭主也。
Interpretation(original text)
震者，动也，雷之象也。上震下震，重雷相叠，奋发激荡之极。《说卦》云「震为雷、为龙、为长男」，万物出于震，春雷一声，草木萌发，生机勃然。程颐谓「震，动也，一阳生于二阴之下」，阳气初动而势不可遏。
上下皆震，雷声重叠，震惊百里。一阳生于二阴之下，刚自下动而二阴承之，其势迅猛。王弼注「震来虩虩，恐致福也」，惧而后安，敬畏之心反得吉祥。虞翻以震为东方、春分之卦，万物始生之象。
初九为卦主，一阳居下，震动之源。六二、六三承于初九之上，柔顺承阳。六五柔居尊位，「震往来厉」，行动须审慎。上六居震之极，震动已过而余威犹存，「震索索」恐惧不安。全卦以初九一阳为震源，阴阳动静之理尽在其中。
震为第五十一卦，与艮（第五十二卦）相综。《序卦》曰「主器者莫若长子，故受之以震」。震动艮止，动静相因，朱熹谓「动静不失其时，其道光明」。震与艮互为综卦，翻覆成对。
The Lines
The thunder comes with dread; afterward come laughter and easy words. Good fortune.
The first shock brings fear, but once it passes one can smile and talk as before; auspicious.

初九一阳居震之始，震动之源。「震来虩虩」，雷声乍起令人恐惧，然恐惧之后则能谨慎行事，终得笑言哑哑。程颐注「能恐惧则修省」，震惧乃福之基，不惧则祸至。
The thunder arrives with peril, and great treasure is lost. Climb the ninefold heights and do not chase after it; in seven days it returns of itself.
The shock is dangerous and much wealth scatters. Retreat to high ground and refrain from pursuit, for what is lost comes back on its own after seven days.

六二阴柔居中得正，当震动之时，处之以柔顺中道。「震来厉」，虽危厉而能以柔承刚。丧贝跻于九陵，暂失所有而登高避险，待七日可复得。此爻示临危之际以退为进。
The thunder leaves one dazed and uneasy; yet if the alarm prompts careful action, no harm results.
The tremor unsettles the nerves, but letting the fright sharpen one's caution keeps calamity away.

六三阴居阳位不当位，震动之中最为惶恐。「震苏苏」，不安貌。然因其不当位而知惧，若能因震而行、因惧而改，则无咎。王弼注「惧以终始」，恐惧可转化为审慎行动之力。
The thunder sinks into the mire.
After the shock one becomes bogged down, unable to move freely.

九四阳居柔位，陷于二阴之间，震动而不能奋起。「震遂泥」，雷入泥中，声势受阻。此爻刚而不中、处上卦之始而无应援，如雷之入地，虽有动能而难以发挥。虞翻谓「不中故泥」。
The thunder rolls back and forth, and danger is on every side; but nothing at all is lost, and the work can still be carried on.
Peril comes with every peal, yet careful conduct keeps one's wealth intact and allows affairs to be managed.

六五柔居尊位，以柔主震，「震往来厉」。阴柔处震之中，无论进退皆有危厉，需格外谨慎。然「亿无丧，有事」，大体不失而有所作为。朱熹谓此爻「柔中居尊」，以柔御震尚能自保。
The thunder leaves one trembling, glancing about in fright. To advance brings misfortune. If it strikes not oneself but a neighbor, there is no blame, though over the marriage there will be grumbling talk.
Shaking and darting nervous looks, one should not press forward. If the danger falls on a neighbor rather than oneself there is no fault, even if the matter of marriage stirs some complaint.

上六居震之终极，震动已极而恐惧至深。「震索索」，战栗不止，「视矍矍」，目光惊惶。征凶，此时不宜行动。然震不于其躬而于邻，祸及邻近而己身无恙。示极震之后当静守内省，不可妄动。

震卦象征雷声震动，代表惊恐与奋起。虽有惊惧之象，但能因恐惧而修身省过，终得亨通。运势起伏较大，宜保持镇定，以不变应万变。
事业中可能遭遇突发变故或重大考验。保持冷静沉着最为关键，不可自乱阵脚。危机中往往蕴含转机，处变不惊者终能化险为夷。
经商环境剧烈变动，市场波动频繁。宜守好根本，保持充足现金流。不可因恐慌而盲目抛售或止损，震荡过后必有机遇。
学业上可能遇到挫折或考试失利的震动。但这正是反省改进的良机，知耻而后勇，最终反而能取得更好的成绩。
感情可能经历突发冲突或剧烈波动。保持冷静克制，不要在情绪激动时做出重大决定。风波过后，若彼此仍愿携手，感情将更加牢固。
面临突发状况需要紧急决策。切忌慌乱失措，应迅速冷静下来，分析形势后再行动。恐惧并非坏事，它能让人更加审慎。
School Interpretations(original text)
震者，动也。重雷叠响，惊而后安之象。以恐惧修省，化险为夷。
震卦为洊雷之象，雷声重叠，震撼天地。君子观此卦象，心生敬畏，反躬自省。震卦虽有惊恐之象，但能在震惊中保持镇定者，终获福报。得此卦者宜谨言慎行，居安思危，在动荡中寻求稳定。凡事不可因恐惧而退缩，亦不可因鲁莽而冒进。
运势震荡起伏，宜守正待时。
市场波动剧烈，宜稳健保守操作。
家宅不宁，注意防震防灾。
心神不宁，注意心脏与神经系统。
